2014-10-24

News At 10:30 on September 20, 200 couples completed the challenge of a Guinness world record for “world’s most people involved in getting down on one knee for proposal” with Taibai Liquor Company, and the company thus became the first liquor company in the Northwest that successfully challenged a world record.

The challenge was divided into several parts named “Good Fortune”, “Witness of Love”, “Injecting Love”, “Forever Love”, and “Solemn Pledge of Love”, respectively.

When the first part started, 200 couples, dressed in traditional Chinese clothes for wedding, entered the venue. The brides wore a red veil, meaning “good fortune”. With the signal given by the host, the grooms unveiled the brides, officially starting the world record challenge.

During the part of “Witness of Love”, the 200 couples challenged the Guinness world record for “world’s most people involved in getting down on one knee for proposal”, which was the highlight of this event. Officials from the Headquarters of Guinness World Records in Britain oversaw the whole process. After a ceremony that lasted nearly 40 minutes, the officials announced a success in the challenge and issued a certificate of Guinness Book to Taibai Liquor Company.

When it came to the part of “Injecting Love”, 30 couples injected liquor into a large liquor jar numbered “520”, which is a homophone for “I love you” in Chinese, and sealed the jar with a lock that symbolized close marital tie to express the good wishes of “life-long love and marriage blessing”.

“Solemn Pledge of Love” was divided into two activities associated with mountain and sea to symbolize pledge as solemn as mountain and sea. First, the names of 200 couples were engraved on the giant landscape stone named “Taibai Liquor Growing Old Together”. The giant stone would be kept permanently in the Taibai Mountain as a pledge as solemn as mountains to witness the marriage blessing of the couples.

Next, every couple who participated in the challenge had a vow bottle provided by Taibai Liquor Company. They wrote down their vows, put them inside the bottle, and threw it into the liquor sea created by Taibai Liquor Company.

Since it was started on June 8, the activity had attracted nearly ten thousand couples across Shaanxi Province. Shu Guohua, Chairman of Taibai Liquor Company, disclosed that this event will be held every year and the company will lead consumers to challenge different world records.
