Wu Xiangdong Promised: The Alliance Would not Trigger Competition or Confrontation with Famous Liquor Distilleries

On June 3, “Chinese Liquor Alliance’s Internet + Seminar” was held in Wuzhen, the permanent site of World Internet Conference, and attracted 339 dealers to sign in, which accounted for 99% of the participant at the seminar. So far, thirteen events of “Chinese Liquor Alliance” have been held successfully in the country and attracted 4,683 allies in total.

In his speech, Wu Xiangdong, Chairman of “Chinese Liquor Alliance”, solemnly promised that the alliance would not trigger competition or confrontation with famous liquor distilleries. It would try to maintain the price system, avoid competition with upstream and downstream enterprises, would not snatch upstream and downstream resources, and encourage close cooperation between upstream and downstream to build “No.1 ecosystem in the liquor industry”. “Liquor Alliance” would closely follow the frontline famous liquor distilleries and locally favored famous liquor brands and cooperate closely with them to be a bridge between distilleries and consumers. It would show its strong value in terms of services and channels.

Chairman Wu Xiangdong disclosed that the reason for him to put forward the idea of ??constructing “Liquor Alliance” was that 2015 turned to be an eventful year for liquor agents. On the one hand, the liquor industry was still under adjustments, with overall slow recovery, unclear transformation direction and worrying future development; on the other hand, traditional dealers generally suffered from such problems as narrow investment information sources, inadequate investment experience and poor investment strength. “Liquor Alliance” would combine the desires and strength of allies, rely on the Internet and new technologies, and seek more investment opportunities through the development of the new economy.

At the seminar, Wu Xiangdong again stressed the importance of constructing a tribe. A group of people become associated with each other under the guidance of a chief and gather with the same idea to form a tribe. He thought that the “No.1 ecosystem in the liquor industry” needed to embrace N tribes rather than a single individual and a single company. Confronted with the complex new economic society, allies of “Chinese Liquor Alliance” needed to become the chiefs who served in a successfully tribal organization closely linked with them. They needed to have the power of “rallying multitudes at their calls” and each of them must pay attention to such “calls”, which should be goodwill, prudent, and consistent with their hearts. Future competition does not take place in the market but between tribes.
