The Group Plans to Create “Alibaba in Liquor Industry”

On July 13, Chairman Wu Xiangdong said in the meeting themed “the Group’s Internet strategy” that the Group plans to launch a B2B platform “liquor channel” which aims to become the “Alibaba in Liquor Industry”.

Wu Xiangdong described the present situation of terminal link of Chinese liquor industry: retail sales of Chinese liquor industry is RMB700 billion, there are about 1.80 million famous cigarette and famous liquor stores in China, and Chinese liquor trading volume at wholesale link is about RMB200 billion; big dealers rely on scale and fund, while small retail outlets rely on products and products; rapid improvement of market information transparency, rapid improvement of market payment security and steady improvement of logistics safety and reliability have led to segmentation of demands of end users on commodities and flattening of overall supply chain, and have caused inventory to be a very big problem in industry development.

All of the above lay a foundation for the launch of “liquor channel”. Wu Xiangdong said that this platform is similar to alibaba.com which has become the world’s largest B2B platform by taking information service and payment guarantee as the selling points and integrating the demands of global merchants, and also a little similar to “DiDi”, “DiDi” APP has changed demand interaction mode and produced tremendous efficiency and new market, and we also need establish a new data exchange mode namely a liquor trading APP- “liquor channel” which links hundreds of thousands of terminal outlets and publishes information on buying and selling.

“Liquor channel” will bring very valuable data flow and fund flow for spontaneous flow of a huge number of social goods, and become a data site by relying on the Group’s large offline business team and long-term relations with terminal stores.

Wu Xiangdong said that “liquor channel” will become China’s most authentic liquor trading information platform after successful operation, integrating goods price in all channels and logistics information, removing channel levels and realizing big data marketing, and will attract wide participation of liquor brand owners.
